Mary Lee (Scheetz) (Campbell) Brooks, 94, Hays, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 at Via Christi Village, Hays.
She was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Norton County to Leonard and Marie (Otter) Scheetz.
She married James “Jim” Campbell on Aug. 6, 1948. He preceded her in death Feb. 4, 1973. She later married Bradley “Brad” Brooks on April 15, 1974. He preceded her in death Dec. 19, 1993.
Survivors include her eight children, Mary Jane (Richard) Schroeder, Atwood, Joseph (Alice) Campbell. Wichita, Eloise Long, Hays, Marita Campbell, Chapman, George (Carol) Campbell, Topeka, Paula (Mike) Flesher, Hays, Joan (Leonard) Long , Logan, and Theresa (Tom) Ginther, Luray; step-son, James (Shannon) Brooks, Clayton; four siblings, Julianne Gallentine, Eileen McCuistion, Fr. Daniel Scheetz, and Raymond (Ardith) Scheetz; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings: Fr. Joseph Scheetz, Geraldine Campbell, and Donald Scheetz.
A private family service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays; burial will be at 2 p.m. in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leoville.
Visitation for the public will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601.
A vigil/ rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Please wear a mask to the visitation and Mass. Memorials are suggested to Masses, Sisters of St. Joseph, or Mt. Calvary Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
