Leroy Fahey Holmes, 78, Salina, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020.
He was born July 7, 1942, in Denver to Darrell and Agnes (Atwell) Holmes. He was a graduate of Utica High School and Fort Hays State University.
He was a teacher and a coach for many, many years.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, participating in Salina Senior Games and watching/attending sporting events especially those with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Kristi Pike (Sean), Salina, and Reed Holmes (Debi), Denver; nine grandchildren, Ivan, Alyssa, Jeffery, Nathan, Erica, Brandon, Dustan (Mya), Tyler (Kristi), and Salena; eight great-grandchildren, Dakota, Kaleb, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Marcus, Adelynn, Kassandra and Sydney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janet, of 54 years; his parents; a sister, Carol and husband, Julian McEwen.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, Salina; burial in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
Memorials are suggested to Belmont Boulevard Christian Church or Kansas Children’s Service League, in care of the mortuary.
