Clifford LaVerne “Red” Steckman, 84, Bunker Hill, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born May 11, 1936, in Maywood, Neb., to Doral C. and Mae Etta (Noah) Steckman. He was a 1954 graduate in Palisade, Neb..
He married Patricia Thayer on May 17, 1957, in Fort Morgan, Colo. He ran a loader for Brown & Brown in Great Bend and retired from Venture in Great Bend. He was U.S. Air Force veteran for eight and half years.
Survivors include his wife, of 63 years, of the home; three sons, Cliff Steckman, Fayetteville, Ark., Leroy Steckman, Russell and Charles Steckman, Houston; two daughters, LaResa Likes, Great Bend, and Tonnett Rusch, Ellsworth; three sisters, Frances Moreland, Fort Morgan, Lee Summers, Whitewater and Mary McCune, Pratt; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill. Military rites will be conducted by the Russell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6240 Honor Guard.
Cremation has taken place and no visitation will be held.
Memorials are suggested to Clifford Steckman Memorial Fund in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
