Wesley John Turner , 83, Quinter, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, due to complications of Covid-19 after a short stay at the Gove County Long Term Care.
He was born July 30, 1937, in rural Quinter, to Lee Marlin and Della Kathryn (Long) Turner. He was a 1955 graduate of Quinter High School, attended Fort Hays State University for two years before moving back to Quinter.
He married Loretta Phlieger on Sept. 24, 1955, in Collyer, He was a volunteer fireman and one of the eight original founders of the Quinter Ambulance Service in 1973.
Survivors include his wife, of 65 years; five sons, Terry, Parker, Colo., Wayne, Tampa, Fla., Tom, Aurora, Colo., Steve, San Francisco, and Levi, Iola, Texas; two daughters, Kristy Gerhardt , Salina and Karla Murray Goodland; a brother, Max, Burlington; a sister, Louise Hisey, Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
At this time, a private family service will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, Collyer. Graveside services are open to all and will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael Cemetery.
