Lawrence Dean “Larry” Steckline, 63, Hays, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born October 12, 1957, in Hays, Kansas to Clarence A. and Norma Jean (Dreiling) Steckline. He grew up north of Yocemento, attended school in Ellis and attended St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis.
He married Donna (Pfannenstiel) on Oct. 12, 1996, in Hays. She preceded him in death Feb. 16, 2008.
He was a farm laborer and worked at the La Crosse Livestock Commission for 30 years.
He enjoyed polka music, the Hays Farmers Market, going to the yearly Oktoberfest’s and attending auctions.
Survivors include a brother, JR Steckline and Debbie Ledoux, Bazine; two sisters, Veronica Leiker, Hays and Dorothy Urban and husband, Patrick, Saratoga Wyo.; eight nephews; three nieces; three great-nephews and three-great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church , Ellis; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m.. Monday, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, both at the church.
A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Steckline family in care of Veronica Steckline.
