George Robert “Bob” Kennemer, 84, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, at the Lane County Hospital, Dighton.
He was born Oct. 6, 1936, in Springfield, Mo., to B.G. and Delores Kennemer. He was a 1954 graduate of Strafford, Missouri High School in 1954.
He married Gwendolyn “Gwen” Mendenhall on July 12, 1958, in Hays. She preceded him in death May 9, 2011. He was employed at Mumma Feed Yard, later known as Ranger Feeders for more than 40 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Dighton, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Robert and wife, Traci Kenneme, Hays; a daughter, Joni Bollinger and husband, Dan, Dighton; a daughter-in-law, Jana Kennemer, Garden City; and four grandchildren, Trevor Bollinger, Lawrence, Abby Kennemer and Brandon Kennemer, both of Hays and Sean Kennemer, Garden City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rod Kennemer; and two sisters, Barbara Delp and Norma Kelley.
Services will be at at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Dighton; burial in Dighton Memorial Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Dighton American Legion, Post No. 190 Honor Guard.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or Hays Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home.
