Wilma Marline (Powell) Gleason, 89, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at Via Christi Village, Hays.
She was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Cheyenne County to Ed and Millie (Weaver) Powell. She grew up on the family farm southwest of Bird City.
She married Clyde Gleason on Aug. 20, 1950. He preceded her in death. They lived and worked on the Gleason family farm. She was a stay-at-home mom where she helped to raise their two girls, but also helped with daily activities of living on a farm.
She enjoyed working in her yard, her flower beds, ceramics, working jigsaw puzzles and embroidery projects. They enjoyed doing woodworking projects together. He did the designing and building and she would sand and paint or varnish them when he was done.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Kuhn and husband, Marvin, Hays and Shona Gleason and partner, Connie Kaber, Saint Louis, Mo.; a grandson, Wayne Lee, Omaha, Neb.; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Olivia; a sister-in-law, Marvel Gleason; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Wade Lee; her parents; three brothers, Elmer, Delbert and Ronald,; and three sisters, Zava, Zella and Darlene.
Plans for a memorial service are pending due to Covid.
