Robert “Bob” Joseph Weis, 72, Hoxie, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at Sheridan County Long Term Care, Hoxie after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 29, 1948, in Colby to Raymond and Germaine (Kruse) Weis. He was a 1965 graduate of Leoville and attended Northwest Kansas Technical School where he earned a certificate as a diesel mechanic.
He married Verna “Jane” Hake on May 20, 1972, in Colby. He worked for Tebo Implement for a short while before going to Taylor Implement where he spent most of his career as a Diesel Mechanic retiring seven years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Hoxie; a son, Dennis Weis, Parker, Colo.; two daughters, Chris Breinig, Hays, and Melissa Weis, DeLeon, Texas; his mother, Colby; two brothers, Norbert Weis, Hoxie and Frank Weis, Akron, Colo.; five sisters, Dolores Mauck, Hoxie, Jane Fleming, Lindsborg, Joan Long, Missouri, Jean Cech, Goodland, and Rose Weis, Round Rock, Texas; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at Friday at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie.
A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Druid at the funeral home.
