Gary L. Miller, 79, Hays, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Fremont, Neb., to John and Iris (Long) Miller. He was a 1962 graduate of Ellis High School.
He married Bernie Younger on May 29, 1965, in Antonino and they celebrated 55 years of marriage. He was a truck driver and in his retirement years, worked at Minooka Park at Wilson Lake. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church.
He enjoyed woodworking, wood burning, and meticulously caring for his vehicles. They spent many years together camping and traveling, with long stays in Arizona and visiting other states including Alaska and Hawaii.
Survivors include his wife, Hays, two sons, Chris Miller and wife, Melody, Kansas City and Steve Miller and wife, Emily, Hays; a brother, Jack Miller, Greeley, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Miller, Salina; four grandchildren, Mason, Zach, and Chloe Miller, and Aaron Holmberg, and a granddaughter due in June.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ron Miller.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Antonino; burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601 and from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery Fund or St. Joseph Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
