Theresa Ann Gottschalk, 75, Hays, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, after a short battle with cancer at Hays Medical Center.
She was born June 20, 1945, in Hays to Joe C. Stecklein and Catherine (Wasinger) Stecklein. She attended Hays High School.
She married Ronald J. Gottschalk in Hays on Feb. 6, 1965. She lived her entire life in Hays, living for many years in her Little Cottage after the passing of her husband Jan. 8. 1991. She worked several years at Travenol and Enersys until opening her own cleaning business.
She lived life for her three boys, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She enjoyed her computer, crafts, and slot machines and talking on the phone to her children and grandchildren. She had a very kind, ornery spirit about her. She enjoyed hanging with her sisters, going shopping, church, and out to eat.
Survivors include three sons, Tim Gottschalk and wife, Maryl, Ellis, Tom Gottschalk, North Platte, Neb., and Dan Gottschalk, Hays; a sister, Charlene Weigel, Gorham; six grandchildren, Jerome Gottschalk (Jenni), Ellis, Kimberly Gottschalk Nashville, Tenn., Kyle Gottschalk, Georgetown, Ky., Megan Gottschalk, Cumberland Gap, Tenn., Nick Gottschalk and Alex Gottschalk, both of Hays; a great-grandchild, Julian Gottschalk; a sister-in-law, Linda Stecklein, Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Richard Wasinger, Elmer Stecklein, Donald Stecklein, Ronald Stecklein, and Leroy Stecklein; and two sisters, Delores Dreher (Jim) and Rose Koerner (Melvin).
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, both at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
A combined vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
