Karen Kay Wishnuck, 63 Medicine Lodge, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, at Hays Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 14, 1957, in Hays to Joseph F and Lillian M (Kinderknecht) Wishnuck. She attended St. Mary Grade School and was a 1975 graduate of Ellis High School.
She was a waitress and short order cook at Alloway’s Restaurant. While working there she was known for her generous portions of food and cinnamon rolls. She was a certified nurse aid and a private duty assistant for nearly 30 years.
Survivors include five sisters, Diane Boos and husband, Mark, Ellis, Darlene Gottstine, Wichita, Lenora Staab and husband, Tom and Vera Kinderknecht and husband, Lynn, all of Hays and Tammy Shelton, Harrison Ark.; a brother, Joe Wishnuck and wife, Dixie, Norman Okla.; her longtime companion, Chris Gronman; her fur baby, Pippin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; a sister Karla; a niece, Nicole Morgan; and a nephew, Lonnie Boos.
Due to the continuing pandemic a small visitation for friends is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, Masks will be required. A private service for family will be from 11 to 1 p.m. Saturday at Brock’s Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601; a private family burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis.
