Jeannine C. Truan, 84, Russell, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 at the Wilson Nursing Center.
She was born December 26, 1936 in Hays to Gilbert and Elizabeth (Kippes) Truan. She grew up a short time in Hays before her family moved to the family farm and she attended Hope Valley schools. She graduated from Gorham High School in the Class of 1954. Then after high school she moved to Russell.
She started out working for Kessler Cleaners for six years before helping take care of patients at the Russell Hospital and in-home patients. She worked as a waitress at the Tower Restaurant before working over 12 years at Martha’s Cafe and working for Red’s Chicken House. In 1982, she started working for Klema’s in the Bakery and Deli, retiring in 2000.
She is survived by her sisters, Janice Stoppel of Russell, Kansas, and Norma Savage of Russell, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Delbert Truan and Raymond Truan, and a sister, Betty Wallace.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 8 PM, Tuesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. Memorials have been established with St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, which is in charge of arrangements.
