Ella Fontella (Jennings) “Toot” Dooley, 86, New Cambria, died Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
She was born Dec. 12, 1934 in Greenwich, to C.R. “Buck” and Pauline (Bridges) Jennings.She attended beauty school in Salina.
She married Joseph Aloysius Dooley Jr. on Jan. 22, 1955. She retired from the office of Blue Beacon International Truck Wash. After retiring, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas and spent time playing golf with newfound friends. After returning to Salina in 2008, she became a lunch lady at Gracie Stewart. After retiring, she was an active YMCA member.
She enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, helping others and had a passion for the underdog.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Joseph Aloysius Dooley III and wife Tammy, Patti; two daughters, Louise (Dooley) LeDuc and husband, Jerry, and Peggy Lee (Dooley) Scheidegger and husband, Ken; a sister, Mazie (Jennings) White; seven grandchildren, Jason and Kevin Stegman, Joseph IV, Travis and Alayna Dooley, and Taylor and Brady Scheidegger; and five great- grandchildren, Kemal and Serhan Stegman, Blake and Ethan Stegman, and Drew Elliott.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Darold Jennings.
Services will be at the 1 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Masks and social distancing will be expected.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals in care of the mortuary.
