Here is a sampling of social media comments about stories from across the state:

Topeka Capital-Journal Facebook: Kansas made this sex trafficking survivor a criminal

Michael Deborah Stukey: Wow, so many things about this story make me so sad and angry. This girl was failed at every turn.

Patricia Spiker: Good ole Brownback fails yet again!

Salina Journal Facebook: Kansas made this sex trafficking survivor a criminal

Brandon Hornseth: Way to go Kansas! If you would have taken the tax payers money for her trial and housing her for 6 years and tried to help her and young ladies like her to prevent these actions.

Salina Journal Facebook: Should college athletes be paid more than their college tuition?

Mary Callaway Vandenburg: NO!!!! They get free room and board while participating in the sport!!! Even when I was on a scholarship I had to pay for my own "incidentals"!!!! Just cause they're athletes does not mean they need to be "paid" to "play" a game!!!!!

Lisa Elder Stallbaumer: As the parent of a ku track athlete I say they should get a stipend. There are expenses involved with college other than tuition. While I don’t believe they should get professional pay it is nearly impossible for them to fill the gaps between what financial aid and scholarships pay for and their expenses without a job too. Their athletic schedule makes it almost impossible to have a job to fill those gaps.

Andrea Harper: No, college athletes attend college for a better education. Athletic scholarships should help pay tuition but, playing sports for a college team is not a job. Colleges should be known for their graduates and not the athletic revenue that it brings in.

Crickett Hoffman: No. And they should not be paid at all. They are there for an education.

Steph Lefort: Why not? Colleges are getting paid very well off these kids but they never lower the tuition cost do they?

Pittsburg Morning Sun Facebook: Details of Pittsburg disagreements with Evergy emerge

Colleen McGuire: The public, the citizens of Pittsburg should be the ones to decide. Period.

Kim Scott: Wish they’d just leave well enough alone. Westar/Evergy is a really good power company. If we were on Empire I’d be all for it though.

Kyle Million: Anyone in favor of city taking it over is either a complete moron or they are set to get personal kickbacks.....

Leavenworth Times Facebook: Commissioners advance rate increases

Nancy J. Thompson: This is not right for people on a fixed income. Every time I call for the senior discount I am told it is to late or to early to apply. Any city commissioner have the guts to vote NO on this increase? How about reducing administrative costs by 8%? How many people even get an 8% raise every year?

Paul Lewis: 8% every year is too aggressive. Over half of my water bill today is for waste water and trash. After only 5 years my $50 water bill is going to be $75.

Terry Bender: They need to take into consideration that veterans and social security recipients are only getting a 1.9% Cost of Living Allowance increase. These commissioners need to keep these rate hikes within what we get for COLA.
