PRATT — Senior Cole Murphy scored a career-high 26 points as the Hays High School boys’ basketball team rolled by Pratt in nonconference play Tuesday night on the road, 94-55.
Murphy scored 15 of his points in the first quarter as the Indians raced out to a 37-14 lead and never looked back.
The Indians (3-1) hit 10 3-pointers in the first quarter to jump on top in big fashion. They then increased the lead to 55-22 at halftime.
Hays High exploded for another big quarter after the break, tallying 27 points in the third quarter to lead 82-39 entering the final eight minutes.
Murphy’s 26 points led the way as he hit seven triples in the game and was a perfect 3 of 3 at the free throw line.
Nick Fisher added 12 points on four 3-pointers, and Tradgon McCrae finished with 16 points. Kyler Koenke hit double figures as well with 12.
Hays High will play at Junction City on Tuesday.
Hays High girls 61, Pratt 46
The Hays High girls had a 13-0 lead at one point in the first quarter, while Pratt didn’t put up a first-quarter field goal and the Indians cruised to a 61-46 victory to move to 3-1.
The Indians led 13-2 after the first quarter and 32-20 by halftime.
The Indians, ranked No. 9 this week in Class 4A Division I, led by double digits most of the third and fourth quarters as they picked up their first road win.
Savannah Schneider led the way with 17 points, one of three Indians in double figures. Brooke Denning added 13 and Isabel Robben 12.
Pratt dropped to 1-1.
