Pending approval by the Hays USD 489 Board of Education on Monday night, Tony Crough will become the new football coach at Hays High School for 2018.
Crough served as the Hutchinson Community College football team’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in 2017. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Andover High School, where he led the team to its first playoff victory in four years.
He also spent time from 2013 to 2015 at Great Bend High School, first as defensive coordinator before transitioning into the head coaching spot. The Panthers, a member of the Western Athletic Conference, went 10-9 under Crough.
The 2004 graduate of Fort Hays State University was one of the football team’s top linebackers during his playing days for the Tigers.
He is a 1999 graduate of Garden City High School and was born in Salina, according to bio information on the Hutchinson CC site. His wife, Chrisy, is a Hays High graduate.
Crough also will be a physical education teacher at Hays High.
