The Hays Larks scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning then held on for a 5-4 victory Sunday night, taking two of three Jayhawk League games from the El Dorado Broncos at Larks Park.
Kolby Robinson scored on a fielder’s choice in the inning, breaking a 4-4 tie. Sloan Baker then pitched two shutout innings, followed by a save for Fabian Muniz in the ninth as Hays moved to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in league play ahead of a midweek three-game trip to Liberal.
John Rensel finished with two hits for Hays while Wyatt Divis drove in a pair of runs and walked once in the Larks’ victory.
Baker picked up the win as he gave up one hit in two innings with a walk and a strikeout. Austin Thomason took the no-decision in his five-inning start. He gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
After three games at Liberal, Hays is home Friday, Saturday and Sunday to face Oklahoma City.
