The Thomas More Prep-Marian baseball team earned a senior day split against Colby at Larks Park on Thursday, winning game one 9-7 before falling 5-3 in the nightcap.

The Monarchs wrapped up the regular season with a 14-4 record and will play host to Beloit in a Class 3A regional opener on Monday at 5 p.m at TMP Field.

TMP took control of the first game with a six-run third inning to open up a 7-1 lead. Brady Kreutzer finished with three hits including two doubles. Carson Jacobs homered and had a double, while Tyson Dinkel, Mason Robbins and Noah Gibson also had two hits each.

Tucker Branum delivered three hits in the first game for Colby.

Colby Dreiling started the game and went four innings for TMP in the first game and picked up the win, allowing six runs on seven with four walks and two strikeouts. Kreutzer gave up one run on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts in three innings of relief.

The Monarchs were hurt by four errors in the second game. The Eagles took the lead on an error in the top of the sixth and added another run off a Branum double.

Colby took a three-run lead into the bottom of the seventh, surrendering an RBI single by Dreiling with two outs. But Branum stranded runners on third and second, inducing a ground ball to end the game.

Konnor Griffin gave up two runs in five-plus innings to take the win for Colby, while Branum gave up one run in two innings of relief.

Jacobs went five innings for TMP, allowing two unearned runs and just two hits while striking out six with two walks. Robbins tossed the final two innings, giving up three runs on eight hits.

Thursday's games were moved to Larks Park due to wet field conditions at TMP.

With a win against Beloit, the Monarchs would advance to the regional semifinals in Concordia on Wednesday to face either Concordia or Larned.
