The Hays High baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Russell/Victoria on Friday at Indian Field.

The Indians (19-1) will take an eight-game winning streak into Tuesday's Class 5A regional at Hays High.

Brock Lummus homered in the first game for the Indians and Palmer Hutchison had a triple. Cody Petersen, Trey Riggs, Lummus and Hutchison each drove in two runs.

Riggs tossed the first four innings, allowing one unearned run with two hits and no walks while striking out five.

Hays exploded for 10 runs in the first inning of the second game. The Indians smacked four home runs in the rout, with Petersen, Hutchison, Riggs and Dylan Dreiling each going deep.

Willie Sennett had three hits in the leadoff spot and Petersen and Riggs each drove in four.

Hutchison, Petersen and Sennett split time on the mound. The Indians forced the run rule in the fifth.

No. 2-seeded Hays High will play either McPherson or Newton in its regional opener at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Indian Field. Wichita Northwest will then play Great Bend at 3:30 p.m., with the final set for 5 p.m. Tuesday.
