GREAT BEND — The Hays Jr. Eagles and TMP Marian Monarchs summer baseball teams ended their seasons in American Legion zone play, with both teams losing at the hands of the Great Bend Braves on Wednesday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

The Jr. Eagles were eliminated with a 10-5 loss to Great Bend before the Monarchs dropped a 16-10 decision to the Braves.

The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first but Great Bend put together back-to-back three-run frames in the second and third. The Eagles got back within a run by plating three in the bottom of the third but were blanked for the last four innings.

Dawson Vonfeldt and Dominic Bainter each had two hits for the Eagles.

In a game that saw a combined 11 errors, the Monarchs notched 12 hits against Great Bend but couldn’t keep the Braves off the board, with Great Bend scoring at least a run in every inning.

Jacob Pfeffer had three hits for the Monarchs while Mark Rack, Tyson Dinkel, Jace Wentling and Nick Herman had two hits apiece.

The Monarchs finished with a 13-10 mark while the Eagles ended 14-17-1. Great Bend advanced to the Class A state tournament in Topeka.
