Wyatt Divis helped put the Larks a win away from advancing to the Championship week of the National Baseball Congress World Series, tossing 7 2/3 shutout innings in the Larks’ 2-0 win over the Denver Cougars on Tuesday at Wichita State’s Eck Stadium.

The Larks were set to play the Derby Twins at 7 p.m. Wednesday with a spot in the second week of the Series on the line.

Divis gave up just four hits and four walks and struck out nine against Denver. Reliever Trevor Munsch got the last out of the eighth inning and earned the save with a scoreless ninth.

The Larks (34-11) grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single from Jimmy DeLeon. Max McGuire pushed the lead to 2-0 with a single in the seventh.

Derby advanced with a 5-2 win over 316 Elite on Tuesday.
