The Hays Senior Eagles cruised in their American Legion Class AA/AAA state opener, run-ruling Ottawa 14-0 in four innings on Wednesday at Larks Park.

The Eagles (31-6) scored six runs in the first inning, adding another run in the second before tacking on seven more in the third.

Palmer Hutchison and Cody Petersen each homered for the Eagles, who had 10 hits.

Jamison Martin went 3 for 3 at the plate, while Petersen and Brady Kreutzer had two hits each.

Colby Dreiling tossed all four innings, allowing just one hit.

The Eagles were set to face Emporia at 6 p.m. Thursday.
