WICHITA — The Hays High football team built a 28-0 lead by halftime en route to a dominating 45-20 win at Wichita South on Friday.

The Indians (2-3) outgained the Titans 387-261, compiling 202 yards on the ground while quarterback Dylan Dreiling put up 203 yards through the air.

HHS running backs Hayden Brown had two touchdowns on the ground while Moroni and Lummus each had a rushing TD. Moroni ran for 86 yards on 10 carries while Brown had 77 yards on 10 attempts.

The Indians struck first on defense when Wyatt Crain scored on a 26-yard fumble return. Moroni pushed the lead to 14-0 with a 12-yard run later in the first quarter before Brown scored on runs from 69 and 8 yards out in the second quarter. Jaren Kanak then caught a 39-yard touchdown from Dreiling to give the Indians a 28-point lead.

Hays added a 35-yard field goal from Matt Goodale and a 25-yard touchdown run from Moroni in the third quarter and a 2-yard TD run from Lummus in the fourth.

Dreiling finished 13 of 18 through the air with one touchdown and one interception. Kanak caught seven passes for 128 yards.

Hays High will return to Western Athletic Conference play next Friday, traveling to Dodge City.
