The Hays High girls golf team is headed to state for the 14th consecutive year after taking second in Monday’s Class 5A regional tournament at Salina Municipal Golf Course.

The Indians were led by Sophia Garrison, who shot an 82 to take third place.

Taleia McCrae and Andrea Lopez each carded an 85 for Hays High to tie for sixth place, while Katie Dinkel tied for 10th with an 88.

The Indians recorded a team score of 340, 11 shots back of regional champion Andover. Salina South also punched its ticket to state by placing third.

Andover’s Madison Slayton won the individual title with a 72. Salina South’s Nina Frees was second with an 81.

The Class 5A state tournament is scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday at Emporia Municipal Golf Course.
