Hays High sophomore Taleia McCrae secured a medal on Tuesday in the second day of the Class 5A state golf tournament at Emporia Municipal Golf Course, placing 12th with a two-day total of 175.

McCrae shot an 85 in the second round on Tuesday to follow up her 90 from the first round on Monday.

Hays High junior Sophia Garrison finished the tournament with a 185, shooting a 94 on Monday and a 91 on Tuesday. Garrison placed 25th overall.

McCrae and Garrison were the only HHS players to advance to the second day.

St. James Academy's Allison Comer won the tournament with a 156, finishing six strokes ahead of Andover's Madison Slayton.

St. Thomas Aquinas won the team championship with a 690, shooting 355 on Monday and 335 on Tuesday. St. James was second with a 713, while Andover was third with a 714.
