The Fort Hays State women's soccer team saw its upset bid against Central Missouri come up short, falling to the No. 4-ranked Jennies 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday at FHSU Soccer Stadium.
Cailey Perkins put the Tigers in front after intercepting a pass from UCM goalkeeper Lindsey Johnson and firing in a shot at the 24:38 mark. FHSU protected the 1-0 lead until Makayla Toth scored the equalizer at the 82:35 mark.
The Jennies then found the game-winner 7:15 into the overtime period when Kelsey Mueller scored off assists from Macy Ruffalo and Kassie Newsom.
UCM put up 12 shots while FHSU had 10. Tigers' goalkeeper Megan Kneefel saved two of the Jennies' four shots on goal.
The Tigers wrapped up the regular season 10-5-2 overall and 6-3-2 in MIAA play. FHSU will play at Central Oklahoma in the first round of the MIAA Tournament on Friday. The Jennies moved to 16-1-1 and 10-0-1 in MIAA games.
