The Fort Hays State men's and women's basketball teams will play host to Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum. The women's game starts at 2 p.m. followed by the men's game at about 4.

The FHSU women (16-3, 7-3 MIAA) will look to slow down a red-hot UNK team that enters on a seven-game win streak. The Lopers (19-2, 8-2 MIAA) handed FHSU a 73-65 loss in the conference opener back on Dec. 3.

UNK is coming off a 60-57 win at Missouri Western this past Saturday, while the Tigers went 1-1 last week, taking a 75-58 loss to Missouri Western before rebounding with a 70-59 victory at Northwest Missouri.

The Lopers are tied for first with Pittsburg State as the MIAA's top scoring offense, averaging 79.4 points per game while also surrendering the fewest points per game at 54.6. Haley Simental leads a balanced UNK attack with 12.1 points per game.

The Tigers have also relied on balanced scoring, with four players averaging in double figures — Kacey Kennett (12.2 points per game), Jaden Hobbs (11.6), Belle Barbieri (10.9) and Taylor Rolfs (10.7).

The Fort Hays State men (8-11, 1-9 MIAA) will look to gain some momentum in conference play. UNK (12-7, 6-4 MIAA) won the first matchup with the Tiger men, 74-60 in Kearney.The FHSU men are coming off a 90-49 non-league win over Kansas Wesleyan on Monday. Both the Tigers and Lopers went 0-2 last week with road losses at Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri.

Morgan Soucie leads UNK with 16.5 points per game while A.J. Jackson and Jake Walker, add 13 and 12.7 points per game, respectively. 

Jared Vitztum averages a team-high 13.4 points for FHSU. Devin Davis and Jake Hutchings are putting up 10.2 and 10.1 points per game.
