Three-sport athletes Brock Lummus and Tasiah Nunnery were recipients of the Hays High Outstanding Athlete Awards for the 2019-20 season.

Nunnery received the Jack Roberts Female Outstanding Athlete award for most outstanding female athlete, while Lummus earned the Swim, Carpenter, Smith Memorial Award for most outstanding male athlete.

Lummus played football, basketball and baseball for the Indians. He was second team All-Western Athletic Conference as a lineman on the football team this past season and played on the Indians’ basketball team that made the final four in Class 5A before the remainder of the tournament was canceled because of the pandemic.

He was primed for a big senior season in baseball but spring sports were canceled because of the coronavirus. Lummus was an All-WAC performer in baseball as a junior, helping the Indians go 20-2 and win the WAC title. He earned KABC honorable mention honors in Class 5A.

Lummus has signed with Butler Community College for baseball.

Nunnery is the Hays High volleyball’s team all-time leader in kills with 1,475. She is the only Indian to make first team All-WAC all four years, and was the WAC player of the year in 2018.

She also played basketball and was planning on competing in track and field before the cancellation of spring sports. She was a 2018 state qualifier in the 100 hurdles and long jump.

Nunnery has signed to play volleyball at Barton Community College.

Both Lummus and Nunnery were on the WAC All-Academic team all four years.
