HILL CITY — The TMP-Marian 18U summer baseball team suffered a blowout loss and then bounced back for a blowout win to salvage a split on Tuesday at Hill City.
The Monarchs (6-2) were dealt a 13-2 setback in the first game before dominating the nightcap, 16-2.
TMP scored 15 of its 18 runs in one inning, exploding for 15 runs in the top of the fourth inning of the second game.
The Monarchs drew 11 walks and had eight hits in the second game. Jace Wentling had two hits and drove in four runs. Nick Hermann pitched all four innings, allowing two runs, two hits and five walks while striking out seven.
TMP managed just two hits in the first game. The Monarchs were undone by a nine-run third inning for Hill City.
The Monarchs will play at doubleheader at Larned on Thursday. First pitch is 6 p.m.
