Phillips County reports two COVID-19 deaths

LOGAN/PHILLIPS COUNTY – On Tuesday, the Phillips County Health Department confirmed the first 2 known deaths of COVID-19 positive individuals in Phillips County. The individuals tested positive on June 29. Both individuals are related to the outbreak at Logan Manor.

An 87-year-old male passed away in the early hours on Thursday at the Logan Manor.

A 47-year-old male passed away at Hays Medical Center in the late morning hours on on Thursday following a hospitalization that began on July 5, 2020.

No additional information will be released on these individuals.

This marks the first deaths caused by the novel coronavirus in Phillips County. Close contacts have been identified will be monitored for symptoms by Phillips County Health Department Staff and in accordance with KDHE requirements.

“It is with great regret that we report our first deaths related to the Novel Coronavirus. We offer our condolences to the families of these individuals along with prayers for all those affected by these deaths,” said Pete Rogers, Phillips County Health Officer.

We continue to work with our community partners and with Logan Manor to mitigate the spread of this disease as well as keeping the residents and staff safe.
