Monarchs sweep Otis-Bison

The TMP-Marian Monarchs 18-U summer baseball team slugged their way to a doubleheader sweep of Otis-Bison on Wednesday at TMP Field.

The Monarchs (3-1) put up 30 runs in the twinbill, run-ruling the Cougars 19-11 and 11-1.

In the first game, TMP-Marian took a one-run lead into the bottom of the seventh before erupting for seven runs to force the run-rule. Drew Werth, Jace Wentling, Noah Gibson and Ethan Atherton all had run-scoring hits in the inning.

Gibson collected three hits in the first game while Atherton and Nick Helget had two each.

The Monarchs scored four runs in the first inning of the second game and never looked back, forcing the run-rule in the bottom of the fourth. Mark Rack came through with a three-run double in the first frame to help TMP take control.

Mason Robbins and Tyson Dinkel had two hits each in the second game. Rack and Dinkel pitched two innings apiece on the mound.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Friday, facing the Salina Falcons in a doubleheader at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina. First pitch is 5 p.m.
