Eagles win USSSA July Blast Off

The Hays Senior Eagles captured the USSAA July Blast Off championship last weekend in Missouri.

OAK GROVE, Mo. — Carson Jacobs’ big day at the plate powered the Hays Senior Eagles to an 8-7 come-from-behind win over the Raytown (Mo.) Diamondbacks in the championship game of the USSSA July Blast Off Tournament title game on Sunday.

Jacobs went 4 for 4 at the plate with three runs driven in. He delivered a walk-off single to cap off the Eagles’ four-run bottom of the seventh.

Garrett Wellbrock led off the seventh with a single and Jack Fields followed with a single.

Brady Kreutzer then reached on an error that scored Wellbrock, and Colby Dreiling also reached on an error in the next at-bat. Fields scored on a passed ball to bring the Eagles within a run before Brock Lummus drew a walk.

Jacobs then singled to left to score Kreutzer and Dreiling to win the game.

Jacobs went 4.2 innings on the mound. He allowed seven runs but just three were earned.

Kreutzer tossed 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the win.

In the semifinal, Dreiling tossed a three-hit complete game shutout to carry the Eagles a 1-0 win over the Venom (Mo.). Jacobs singled in the lone run in the first inning.

The Eagles moved to 23-2 on the season.
