Hays High defensive lineman Gaven Haselhorst has committed to Kansas State University, he announced Monday on Twitter.

Hays High’s Gaven Haselhorst announced Monday on Twitter that he has committed to play football at Kansas State University.

Haselhorst, who is heading into his senior season, logged 113 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and four fumbles recoveries last season at his defensive end spot for the Indians.

He was a first-team selection on the All Western Athletic Conference and Hays Daily News All-Area teams, and was an honorable mention Class 5A all-state pick by The Topeka Capital-Journal.

Haselhorst, 6-foot-1, 226-pounds, was offered by the Wildcats after a strong showing at the Sharp Performance Showcase in Salina earlier this month.

Haselhorst also had offers from Fort Hays State, Washburn and Hutchinson Community College.

The Wildcats have offered two others Hays High players — junior linebacker Gavin Meyers and junior receiver Jaren Kanak.
